South Dakota State upended host Utah State 68-65 in overtime on Saturday night. Chris (Yuba College) Smith didn't shoot well and finished with eight points alongside six boards and four assists. JoJo (Dublin High) McGlaston didn't score in 13 minutes but did corral three rebounds.

Babineaux leads Jacksonville

Kori (City College of San Francisco) Babineaux's 19 points paced host Jacksonville to an 84-55 victory over Truett-McConnell last night. He also passed for five assists and grabbed four boards.

Utah 59, UNLV 46

In Sin City, Utah took care of UNLV 59-46 yesterday as Delon (City College of San Francisco) Wright led the Utes with 17 points but shot just 5-16 overall. He also contributed four assists plus four steals.

Portland 87, Montana St. 60

In the Rose City, Portland took care of business with Montana State 87-60 as Bryce (Jesuit High) Pressley went big via 17 points and six assists. For MSU, Joey (Newark Memorial High) Frenchwood tallied three assists in 22 minutes of play.

Northern Colorado 69, Jacksonville St. 60

Dominique (Casper College/St. Mary's High) Lee posted an 18 point, 10 rebound double-double last night in Northern Colorado's victory over visiting Jacksonville State. Lee shot 6-10.

UC Davis 81, AF 75

In Colorado Springs, UC Davis nabbed an 81-75 success versus Air Force as Josh (UC Riverside/CCSF) Fox posted an impressive 19 point, six rebound, two blocked shot line. He shot 7-10 overall.

For Air Force, Ryan (Sheldon High) Manning saw just seven minutes of action but contributed four points, two rebounds and an assist.

UC Riverside 78, HB 67

UC Riverside took down visiting Houston Baptist 78-67 Saturday with Taylor (Sacred Heart Cathedral Prep) Johns totaling 28 points and 17 rebounds (eight offensive) for the victors.

Pacific 71, Fresno State 68

In Stockton, it was a Dulani (CCSF) Robinson trey with four seconds on the clock that provided the difference in Pacific's 71-68 win over Fresno State. Gabriel (CCSF) Aguirre led the Tigers with 15 points on 7-7 shooting, T.J. (Modesto Christian High) Wallace was next with 12 points and Robinson finished with 11.

Cal State Stanislaus 62, Chico State 60

Cal State Stanislaus got the better of host Chico State last night in a squeaker 62-60. This despite the Wildcats holding a big lead early in the second half.

For the visitors, Chris (Ohlone College/Castro Valley High) Read led with 15 points. Robert (Granite Bay High) Duncan paced Chico with 15 points on 7-11 shooting and teammate Jordan (Arcata High) Semple scored 10 and grabbed nine boards.

Dominican University hosted but fell to Northwest Nazarene 60-51 yesterday afternoon. For the Penguins, Dom (UC Riverside/Oakland High) Taplin scored 18 points, followed by Chris (Sacramento Waldorf High) Edmisten-Schwartz with 14.

Erik (Sacramento High) Kinney tallied 17 points for the victors and added four steals.

Former Drake High standouts Luke Chavez and Brandon Kenilvort combined to score 45 points as the College of Marin men's basketball team built a big lead then held off College of the Redwoods, 92-86 at the Kris Kringle Invitational. Chavez scored a team-high 25 points for the Mariners (8-2) while Kenilvort scored 20.

"We were up by 22 with like 10 minutes left in the game and they just started knocking down a bunch of 3s to get themselves back in the game and we just held them off down the stretch," COM coach Dave Granucci said.

Cabrillo staved off an Alameda comeback to win its Sac Joaquin Delta Tournament opener. Allen Wilcher scored 21 points and Zavon Jackson and Latrell Wilson each added 15 for the Seahawks, which went up by nearly 20 before Alameda cut it to a basket with little more than a minute to play.

Santa Cruz 83, San Benito 32 -- Kaijae Yee-Stephens scored 27 points to go along with five rebounds, two assists and two steals, as Santa Cruz dropped San Benito in the semifinals of the Luis A. Scattini Memorial Tournament at Palma High.

In what was a rematch of last season’s tournament final — which San Benito won by two — Santa Cruz controlled from start to finish, leading 55-14 at halftime. Kiree Hutchings added 16 points, five rebounds, four steals and two assists for the Cardinals (7-1), who play Palma in Saturday’s final at 5:15 p.m.

One week after winning the Jesuit (Carmichael) tournament, the Archbishop Mitty's boys basketball team returns to the court Saturday at Chabot College to face another unbeaten team, El Cerrito.-- The game, which is scheduled to start at 6 p.m., is the fifth of six games on the schedule at the third annual Moreau Catholic School Winter Classic.-- Mitty is ranked ninth in the state by Cal-Hi Sports and El Cerrito is 14th.-- Ben Kone, Mitty's 6-foot-8 junior forward, is off to a great start as he averaged 24.3 points and 12.7 rebounds over three games at the Jesuit tournament and was named MVP.-- "I am really proud of the way the team's playing early on in the season right now," Kone said. "I feel like this is one of the closest teams I have ever played on. We're really connected."-- Mitty does not lack for height and skill.-- Sebastian Much, a 6-7 transfer fromSt. Margaret s in San Juan Capistrano, is off to a sizzling start as well.-- "I honestly think he is the best 2017 player in the Bay Area," Kone said.
