Down south, Cal State San Bernardino pulled out a 78-77 victory over Sonoma State on Saturday. For SSU, James (Northern Colorado/Arroyo High) Davis exploded for 28 points with J.J. (Colorado State-Pueblo/Bradshaw Christian High) Mina tallying 19 points plus eight boards.

CPP 73, CS East Bay 48

Down south, Cal Poly Pomona took down Cal State East Bay 73-48 on Saturday. For the victors, guard Barry (McClymonds High) Bell produced 11 points plus five assists and teammate Chad (American River College/Center High) Haysbert went for eight points and eight boards. For the Pioneers, Jacari (St. Joseph Notre Dame) Whitfield led with 16 points with Cody (Humboldt State/Rocklin High) Kale contributing 14.

San Diego St. 62, Utah State 42

Winning both halves by the scores of 21-14 and then 41-28, San Diego State had little trouble with Utah State on Saturday. Malik Pope for the Aztecs played 19 minutes and finished with 13 points plus four rebounds. He went 5-9 overall, 3-5 from three-point land.

Northern Colorado 71, Weber State 57

In Greeley last night, Northern Colorado took down Weber State 71-57 as Dominique Lee shot 6-9 overall on his way to 16 points. He just missed a double-double with nine rebounds.

UC Riverside 66, Cal St. Northridge 62

UC Riverside grabbed a homecourt win last night 66-62 versus Cal State Northridge. Trevor Johns was a perfect 13-13 at the foul line on his way to 27 points. In 12 minutes, Charles Standifer produced four boards, three points plus two assists.

Irvine 77, Santa Barbara 55

At home, UC Irvine blasted UC Santa Barbara last night 77-55. It was 36-26 at the half and then 41-29 in round two. Will Davis produced eight points, six boards and a pair of blocked shots while Travis Souza shot 3-5 from beyond the arc for nine points. John Green's 12 points and seven boards both paced the Gauchos.

Portland St. 80, Montana St. 62

Portland State at home handled Montana State 80-62 on Saturday. Freshman guard Joey Frenchwood played seven minutes for the Bobcats and tallied five points.

LMU 76, Pacific 71

It took an overtime period in Stockton before Loyola Marymount got past Pacific 76-71 on Saturday. T.J. Wallace led the Tigers with 18 points (6-10 shooting overall, 4-7 from long distance) and added five assists. Teammate Alec Kobre was right behind with 17 on 5-12 shooting beyond the arc.

LMU earned 20 assists on 28 baskets, Pacific 20 on 26.

WSU 89, Stanford 88

In an upset even though it took place in Pullman, Washington State was one point better than Stanford last night 89-88. In 16 minutes, Ike Iroegbu went for 14 points on 5-7 overall shooting for the Cougars.

Lafayette 74, Navy 65

Bryce Scott aided the Leopards cause via 10 points and eight rebounds as Lafayette sunk Navy 74-65 in Annapolis on Saturday.

Pepperdine 67, St. Mary's 62

In Moraga on Saturday, Pepperdine pulled an upset with a 67-62 defeat of St. Mary's. For the Waves, Amadi Udenyi contributed 11 points (5-7 shooting), four assists and two steals in 33 minutes. Brad Waldow led the Gaels with 25 points and six rebounds but shot 9-20 overall and 7-14 at the foul line. The Gaels were outscored by 10 in the second half.

Maryland-Eastern Shore 92, Coppin St. 82

It was Maryland-Eastern Shore by 10, 92-82, yesterday against Coppin State although Sterling Smith posted a line of 23 points, eight boards, three assists and three steals. He shot 4-5 from long distance, 9-13 overall.

Butler 72, Marquette 68

In Milwaukee, Butler defeated Marquette 72-68 on Saturday. For MQ, Juan Anderson totaled 12 points plus seven rebounds. He shot 5-8 overall, 2-2 from beyond the arc.

Baylor 83, Texas 60

In Waco, Baylor whomped on Texas 83-60 yesterday despite Isaiah Taylor providing 16 points, 10 assists and six boards for the Longhorns.

KY 70, Alabama 55

In Lexington, Kentucky took down Alabama yesterday 70-55 with Marcus Lee getting 17 minutes of court time. He scored eight points on 4-5 shooting and grabbed five rebounds.
