Harvard-Westlake led 35-18 at the half and continued on in defeating Palma High 66-49 Saturday in Sacramento to win the D-IV state championship. It wasn't Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart doing the damage but instead Wolfgang Novogratz by way of New York City, not Vienna. He scored a game high 26 points.
Palma had but one shot creator in Jamaree Bouyea and the few open shots the Chieftains enjoyed in the initial 16 minutes were errant. H-W played very aggressively and kept the crew from Salinas from establishing any rhythm by inducing numerous turnovers.
Wyatt Maker led Palma with both 17 points plus nine rebounds and Jamaree Bouyea scored 11.
Bouyea returns next season plus Garrett Maker should be back and ready after his injury so that bodes well for Palma's program.
