The Cabrillo College Seahawks improved to 4-0 in Coast Conference South play with a 24-point win tonight in Cupertino over DeAnza College. DeAnza (10-9, 2-2) came into the game looking to make a statement but instead the Seahawks (14-3, 4-0) made one of their own.
Cabrillo jumped all over the Dons early, taking a 12-0 lead and extending that to 16-2. The Seahawks lead at the half 36-25.
The second half was more of the same as the Seahawks got some outstanding perimeter shooting from Joe Saarem who connected on four three-point baskets in the half. Cabrillo was up by as much as 27 with 4:00 to go.
Aaron Short led all scorers with 19 points. Saarem had 15 points on five treys. Tyler Velasquez had 12 points. Frank Rogers and Thomas Pierce scored nine and eight respectively.
