Somebody was doing this before (was it Phil Handy?), that being pitting the 'best' of the Bay Area against the 'best' out of Sacramento?
The kids would love to participate in such a matchup but the adults, or some of the adults and their egos, would be roadblocks to regenerating such a pairing. Heck, the various shoe companies probably wouldn't go for it either.
But think about it.
Properly marketed, it could draw 5,000 fans. There's some $$$ to be made. It would be good for NorCal basketball.
There could be a shooting contest, a dunk contest, invites to some in the national press for coast-to-coast coverage, etc.
But who could pull this off, getting the barriers removed for one night?
Maybe the Priceline negotiator.
