The Cabrillo College Seahawks held off a stubborn DeAnza squad tonight 66-54 in Aptos. Cabrillo (12-6, 3-0) controlled the game throughout but could never quite throw the knockout blow. Cabrillo connected on six three-point baskets in the first half and went in at the half up 30-21.
In the second, the Seahawks slowly exended their lead to as many as 18 behind the three-point shooting of Dalton Noble. However, the Seahawks stalled offensively and DeAnza fought back with three consecutive 3's of their own to cut into the lead and make things more interesting. Dalton Noble was making things interesting for the Seahawks as he exploded for 20 second half points connecting on 3 more three-point baskets along with his 8 for 9 free throw shooting. He alone made things difficult for the Dons (6-10, 1-2).
Noble lead all scorers with a career high 29 points. Colin Gruber added 16 points and Phoenix Bills chipped in with 8 points.
