Coach John Peterson has his Renegades at 12-4 thus far this season.
It's been Ws against Solano, San Joaquin Delta, Sacramento City, American River, West Valley, Sequoias, Merritt, Monterey Peninsula, Gavilan, DeAnza and Diablo Valley (twice) while the Ls are from Cabrillo, Shasta, San Jose City and Foothill.
Chris Read is an integral part of the offense.
Here's our evaluation based on a single game observation:
Read still needs to tighten his handle some but he's impossible to negate when he receives a pass around the 10-foot mark, dribbles once or twice and rises for a shot. His hops get him good looks despite the best efforts of defenders -- Read stands at 54% overall shooting. He also lead the team with 18 steals, seemingly having a sixth sense of where to position himself in order to nab where an errant pass will be available for the picking. We would still like to see him focus as a defensive stopper with his quickness and long arms as that itself would likely earn him a spot at the D-1 level.
Also, freshman Casey Norris has adapted well to the step up from Newark Memorial High. He is at 9.5 points per game, shooting 50% overall plus 53% on 19 trey attempts to date. Most importantly, he leads the squad with 22 assists (his height indicates playing at the point at the next level).
