After starting the season 0-1, Coach Russell Turner and his guys faced host Washington of the Pac-12. Granted, the Huskies are a relative walking wounded nowadays but it's still a Pac12 - Big West Conference pairing.
The score was 38-36 in favor of the Anteaters after the initial 20 minutes but the Huskies sputtered in round two, fell far behind and then made a partial recovery before falling 86-72.
Will Davis led Irvine with 22 points (10-12 shooting), seven rebounds and a pair of blocked shots. Chris McNealy provided seven rebounds, six points and five assists.
