William Jessup University men's basketball coach Lance Von Vogt announced the signing of international star Jack Meadows.
Meadows, a 6-foot-5 guard, comes to the Warriors from Brisbane Grammer School in Australia. The Brisbane, Queensland native averaged 17 points, 9 rebounds and 4.5 assist. The Brisbane Capitals took third place in the State Championship Tournament last year. Meadows played for the Lang Park Club team, which was a U18 finalist in 2012 and has reached the U23 Finals to be played on July 2nd this summer.
Meadows stated:"When I began my search for an American college, I was initially overwhelmed by the number and variety of colleges available. After talking with WJU, I liked the idea of a smaller campus with a great community feel. I chose WJU for its strong basketball program and the ongoing experience I've had with WJU's friendly staff. I am really looking forward to visiting all the great places nearby that California has to offer."
Coach Von Vogt stated: "I am thrilled to sign Jack Meadows to a scholarship agreement to attend and play basketball at WJU. I've had a lot of success working with international players all over the world in my time as a coach and they always bring a great perspective, work ethic and diversity to your team dynamic. It also helps when they are really talented like Jack is. At 6'5" Jack's versatility is like Swiss Army knife and we look forward to using him all over the court during his time as a Warrior. It will take a little time for Jack to adjust to the American game and the collegiate level of basketball in the US, but once he does he is going to be a terrific player for us. Jack's initial love was volleyball and it wasn't until recently that he picked up basketball which makes his upside that much more exciting. He is a blank page for us to work with."
Meadows joins Tyler Jennings, Desmond Floyd, Chris Murry, and Cody Wilcox to the 2014 recruiting class.
The Warriors will open up the season at home on November 6th against Northwest Christian University. The 2014-15 season will mark the Warriors first year in the Golden State Athletic Conference.
