Mark Zeigler took in a San Diego State practice and writes:
2. Malik Pope is special.
They say NBA players just “look” different, and Pope does – recently measured at 6-10 (over 7 feet with his hair), fast, explosive, graceful, athletic, elastic arms, soft hands, smooth handles, maybe the best 3-point stroke on the team. Or put another way: Don’t count on him being in college for four years (or even three).
Also, though, don’t count on him getting major minutes immediately. Fisher is understandably taking a conservative approach, as much for physical as tactical reasons. Pope is a raw hunk of clay, having not played a full season of organized basketball in three years. Potential, as tantalizing as it may be, won’t become production without patience.
