On Friday, American River College bested Merritt College 86-76 up in Redding. The Thunderbird freshmen starting backcourt of Tyrrell (El Cerrito High) Alcorn and Omari (Sacred Heart Cathedral) Brown scored 13 and 12 points respectively.
