"Seven PacWest student-athletes were named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District 8 team, released Thursday. Four men's student-athletes and three women's student-athletes were recognized for their athletic and academic accomplishments in the region. The seven honorees is the most in conference history, up from two in 2014 and four in 2015.
The PacWest had four of the five men's selections in District 8 – Ian Harward (BYU-Hawaii), Matt Hayes (Dominican), Christopher Schwartz-Edmisten (Dominican), Brandon Simister (Dixie State). Hayes is a repeat selection from last year...
...All seven of the honorees will be placed on the Academic All-America ballot, which will be voted on and announced in the coming weeks.
To be eligible for Academic All-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director. The Academic All-District ® teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada."
