A few notes from the Nor Cal JUCO Summer Jamboree

Hit the Nor Cal JUCO Summer Jamboree Thursday at Skyline College and scribbled down these notes. Do take into account that games on two courts were taking place simultaneously plus summer rosters will likely differ from those in November:

* Contra Costa will be young this season with just four sophomores on Coach Miguel Johnson's roster but definitely scrappy. 6-foot-5 sophomore Jeremiah Alston will be the Comet leader in 2016-17. No Rae Jackson on the Contra Costa College roster.

* 6-foot-3 sophomore Remy Dillard (in game one) showed well for the Diablo Valley College Vikings who also featured Rodney Pope and Jovantae Carleton.

* Really liked the play of former Mitty guard Matt McAndrews for Foothill College. In game one, he came out and quickly posted eight points inside. White chocolate is back!

* 6-foot-5 sophomore Jovian Cormier of San Joaquin Delta College displayed a shooting touch to 15 feet as well as a number of dribble-drives for close-in shots. Really liked the play of 5-foot-10 sophomore guard Darrin Gentry. He was a blur on the court and created open shots with his dribble-drives.

* Solano 5-foot-11 sophomore lefty Demoriaye Hart-Spikes just couldn't be stopped as he drove into the paint again and again for shots.

* High-scoring Burton High prepster Clayton Ladine is playing for Coach Justin Piergrossi and Skyline College.

* No Mason Washington on the Modesto Junior College roster.
