Lucero was named the Player of the Year in the Monticello Empire League last season.
One 2016 evaluation: "2017 6’5 G Zavier Lucero – had a great day at camp. He has drawn some interest from some colleges since the Nor Cal Select camp. Zavier has good length and agility. He has a knack to score and help his team. He is a silent 12-15pt player. Zavier will also work on the boards as he is not shy in grabbing rebounds. He is actually a lot more athletic then he appears. Zavier is also a high academic student-athlete."
