Down in the Southland, Chico State defeated CS San Bernardino 80-67 on Friday. Corey Silverstrom led the Wildcats with 25 points while Robert (Granite Bay High) Duncan contributed 21.
ChicoER: "Corey Silverstrom scored a season-high 25 points as the Chico State men’s basketball team beat Cal State Sam Bernardino 80-67 on the road Friday, becoming the first Wildcats team to start 13-2 or better since the 1940-41 season.
Chico State has won seven straight and 12 of its last 13.
Robert Duncan was the only other Wildcat in double digits, scoring 21 on the night. Jalen McFerren filled out the stat sheet with five points, eight assists and six rebounds. Duncan also had six rebounds, with Justin Briggs leading the team with seven.
Chico State led for 35 minutes of play Friday, going into halftime with a 37-29 lead and holding it from there. The Wildcats made one less field goal than San Bernardino, but the ’Cats edge came at the free-throw line. With Cal State San Bernardino going 9-15 from the free-throw line, Chico State made 26 of 32 for a robust 81 percent at the line..."
