Merritt College took a liking to 40, scoring that number of points in both 20-minute sessions in edging host Mendocino College 80-78 on Thursday. Tyrell (El Cerrito High) Alcorn came close to reaching that figure himself with 32 points and teammate Tim (Freedom High) Jordan posted a 23 point, 11 rebound double-double.
