It was a tight one on Tuesday night as host LaVerne edged Pomona-Pitzer 89-86 despite the Sagehens receiving 27 points from Corbin (Sacred Heart Prep) Koch, 17 via Daniel (Los Altos High) Rosenbaum, 15 from Mitchell Finkel and 11 via Micah (Lick-Wilmerding) Elan. Finkel also grabbed 13 rebounds. Freshman James (Leland High) Kelbert doubled up with eight points plus right boards.
Pomona-Pitzer shot 48.6% overall, 46.2% on three-point attempts yet just 8-16 at the foul line. The also won the battle of the boards 47-28.
