Darren Sabedra reports that Archbishop Mitty (meaning Aaron Gordon) is on ESPN tonight beginning at 5 p.m. versus the Harrison twins out of Texas.

Coach R really, really needs to land AG and certainly is putting in the effort to do so. The choice will be fascinating as any of the colleges will fit Gordon's bill, which makes the decision even harder.

AG has cut his list of faves to Arizona, Kentucky and Washington.

Although it's not his burden to bear, our thinking is still that Washington will be the choice. Lorenzo Romar needs him and Gordon could be considered the guy who put the Huskies back on the national map, even if he plays for just one season.

Why be just another super at Kentucky? Yeah, yeah, there are a lot of reasons to head to The Bluegrass State but why not establish a credential as a program-changer (see above).

Arizona is the darkhorse.

Mark Emmons profiles the state of Aaron Gordon and the intriguing draw from the article is that the recruiting process has become a drag. To any teenager, it's flattering to have the 'top' guys in a profession calling you and desiring your services but at this point what more is there to learn about the possible destinations being considered? Another sales pitch in the guise of a contact won't make a difference.

How about this: each coach still in the running agrees not to call, text, etc. any further. Just wait until Gordon makes his decision.

Yeah right. That pact has about as much a chance of lasting (let alone being agreed to) as Mike Brown's tenure with the Lakers.

Just an observation: you will learn nothing but what is AG supposed to say? It has to be both tiring and boring doing such interviews while also having to be oh so careful with your words so as not to leave room for speculation (which will happen anyway).

It's interesting and obviously not a coincidence that the pair will be there along with a prep point guard who has already committed to Coach Lorenzo Romar.

Arizona just received a commit from a 6-foot-6 super athlete and wing out of Philly (Rondae Jefferson) -- does that effect the chances of the Wildcats vis-a-vis Aaron Gordon's services?

Is the signing a marker that Coach Sean Miller doesn't like his Gordon sweepstakes chances or simply a hey-we-can't-pass-up-such-a-talent option regardless of any resulting ramifications?

The Big Three

For the oldtimers out there, how long has it been (if there ever was a time) that three high school talents from the Bay Area and in the same senior class were also projected to enjoy substantial careers in the NBA?

We are speaking of Jabari Bird, Aaron Gordon and Marcus Lee.

Granted a lot of hard work still needs to be applied and bodies will need maturing but each of these talents will likely, barring injury or something else unforseen, be heading to The Big Show prior to a full four years of college ball.

Each is also projected to be an impact talent in the NBA and not a reserve.

Recent draftees Damian Lillard, Jared Cunningham and Orlando Johnson will soon be plying their trade in the NBA which makes it a must for following their respective careers and impacts. There is already chatter of Lillard in the running for Rookie of the Year.

But the Bird - Gordon - Lee troika is widely heralded, having as CDickens once wrote, great expectations.

All this also brings up another issue: who, if anyone, is being overlooked at the moment and will bust out during their college days similarly to the Lillard's coming to the fore?

Be happy to wipe off any egg on moi face -- Lorenzo Romar is going to be happy.

Maybe the more important thing to keep in mind is that Gordon will leave early, a two-and-done at the very most

Jabari Bird has been a Cal lean for about a year. My guess is he would have committed long ago if AG also favored Cal. But AG doesn't.

UW would have had more of a shot with Bird if they could have got an early commitment from AG. But AG is in no rush to commit.

Adam Zagoria with the 'latest' on Bird/Gordon: "Bird lists Cal and Washington as his top two options and Gordon has said Washington is his top choice, followed by Arizona and Kentucky."

It seems like everything that could be asked of and said by the two young men has been in print and on video. How 'bout a media moratorium until each makes his decision, yep, us included? Give them a respite.
