here are the basketball players from northern California making this week's Cal-Hi Sports Boys State Stat Stars squad:
* Leroy Abraham (Natomas, Sacramento)
He scored a game-high 39 points while teammate Marquice Clark added 24 points in a 81-77 road win against El Dorado of Placerville in Sac-Joaquin Section Division III post-season play.
* Alex Fertig (Buchanan, Clovis)
The senior standout scored a game-high of 30 points in a 72-54 win over Edison of Fresno in the CIF Central Section Division I playoffs. Before the season-ending loss to Clovis West, Alex had scored scored 2,258 career points, sixth-best in section history.
* Jared Goslinga (Ripon Christian)
Slinging the ball into the basket early and often, Goslinga finished with 37 points in a 93-65 win over Valley Christian of Roseville in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division V playoffs.
* Mohannad Halaweh (Analy, Sebastopol)
The junior guard had a season-high 31 points but his team came up short in a 98-87 loss to Orinda Miramonte.
* Chris Hammel (Cardinal Newman, Santa Rosa)
He had a season-high 30 points but his team lost a North Coast Section D4 semifinal heartbreaker 62-61 in overtime to St. Patrick St. Vincent of Vallejo.
* Monet Hamor & Travis Rye (Ferndale)
If you think they only play football way up north in the tiny town behind the Redwood Curtain, think again. In an NCS Div. VI 72-71 semifinal win over Pleasant Hill Adventist, Hamor had a game-high 30 points, including 13 in the pivotal fourth quarter. Rye finished with 20 points, but his two free-throws with 2.1 seconds left gets Ferndale into the D6 title game for the third straight year.
* Matt Hayes (Yuba City)
The Honkers may have been the 11th seed but behind Hayes’ long-distance shooting they knocked off Del Campo of Fair Oaks 74-65 in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division II playoffs. Hayes connected on six 3-pointers and finished with 32 points and 10 rebounds. The senior with a very quick release stayed hot with 21 points in the first-half of the next game against McNair of Stockton, but cooled off in the second-half, which helped McNair win 72-63.
* Taylor Johns (Sacred Heart Cathedral, San Francisco)
With star Joshua Fox still out with an ankle injury and another starter Tyler Petroni out with an illness, the heavy load in the CCS Division III semifinal fell on the shoulders of this 6-foot-4 senior power forward. He responded with a double-double 22 points and 19 rebounds in a coast-to-coast 56-47 victory over WCAL rival Valley Christian of San Jose.
* Dawson Johnson (Castro Valley)
His team fell behind early, and the speedy 5-foot-9 guard only had one point in the first quarter. After that, however, the senior got real busy and finished with 33 points to lead the Trojans to a 69-60 win over Danville Monte Vista in the NCS Division I quarterfinals.
* Marcus Lee (Deer Valley, Antioch)
The highly regarded 6-foot-9 junior had a triple-double of 21 points, 12 rebounds and 11 blocks to lead his team into the title game of the NCS Division I playoffs after a 71-53 semifinal win over Freedom of Oakley.
* Patrick Lowman (Vista del Lago, Folsom)
The 12th-seeded Eagles knocked off the No. 5 seed Weston Ranch Cougars of Stockton 72-71 in the Sac-Joaquin Section Div. III playoffs as Lowman was high man with 38 points.
* Robby Maxey (Victory Christian, Carmichael)
He scored 33 points to lead the top-seeded Vikings to a 68-56 Sac-Joaquin Section Division VI playoff win over Wilton Christian.
* Cole McConnell (Sacred Heart Prep, Atherton)
The 6-foot-5 senior is a big reason the Gators will be going for a third straight CCS Division IV championship on Friday night at Santa Clara University against Half Moon Bay. In his last three games ,he’s been on fire. He had 32 points in a win over San Jose Harker, 24 points with seven rebounds and four steals in a quarterfinal win over King’s Academy of Sunnyvale, and 25 points, including seven 3-pointers, in a semifinal win over that same Harker team.
* Kiran Shastri (Miramonte, Orinda)
Kiran ran circles around the opponents, and did more than his part in helping run off visiting Analy of Sebastopol. The 6-foot-5 regular to this feature had a double-double 40 points and 12 rebounds (three blocks, two assists, two steals) in a NCS D3 quarterfinal light-up-the-scoreboard 98-87 victory. He came back with a game-high 32 points (eight rebounds, four assists) this week in the semifinals, but the Matadors came up short in a 79-72 semifinal loss to arch-rival Campolindo of Moraga.
* Clay Stewart (East Palo Alto, Menlo Park)
He dropped in 35 points but his team fell 78-75 to St. Thomas More of San Jose in the CCS D5 quarterfinals.
* Gokul Natesan (Cupertino)
The previous State Athlete of the Week hit five 3-pointers and was 14-of-14 from the free throw line, but his 33 points wasn’t enough to stop Serra of San Mateo in a CCS Div. II playoff defeat.

This week's Cal-Hi Sports Boys State Stat Stars
Here are the northern California honorees of the latest Cal-Hi Sports Boys State Stat Stars:
* Jamir Andrews (Dublin)
The Gaels’ junior guard scored 32 points in a North Coast Section D2 opening-round 85-64 win over Rohnert Park Rancho Cotate.
* Armani Collins (Stuart Hall, San Francisco)
He’s only a freshman, but at 6-foot-4 we may be hearing more about him in the future. For now, in a 47-40 win over Petaluma St. Vincent de Paul, Armani made like the Italian fashion guru, designing a double-double 19-point, 13-rebound performance.
* Ryan Diew (Head-Royce, Oakland)
The Jayhawks’ junior had 30 points in an North Coast Section D5 opening-round 72-61 victory over Bay School of San Francisco.
* Aaron Gordon (Archbishop Mitty, San Jose)
You pretty much have to figure the 6-foot-8 junior phenom will be in this feature almost every week. He had 24 points, 14 rebounds and five blocks in a 54-48 West Catholic Athletic League semifinal victory over cross-town Bellarmine. Then, he took over in the fourth quarter of the playoff championship final against Sacred Heart Cathedral, scoring nine of his game-high 24 points and grabbing four of his 11 rebounds in the final quarter of a 50-47 victory.
* Liam Hunt (Drake, San Anselmo)
The 6-foot-6 Australian-born junior makes another appearance in this feature after recording a triple-double 14 points, 18 rebounds and 10 blocks in an North Coast Section Division III opening-round 77-52 win over visiting Richmond De Anza.
* Cole McConnell (Sacred Heart Prep, Atherton)
The 6-foot-5 senior poured in a season-high 32 points with six 3-pointers in a 69-63 victory over host San Jose Harker.
* Eli Morris (Branson, Ross)
Last week, the 6-foot-4 senior had double-doubles of 21 points and 10 rebounds in a 65-59 win over Novato, and 10 points and 12 rebounds in a low-scoring 34-32 win over Marin Catholic of Kentfield. He only had nine points and eight rebounds in the Marin County Athletic League playoff championship game, but it was enough to lead the Bulls to a 44-40 victory.
* A.J. Newell (Berean Christian, Walnut Creek)
The junior guard deposited a season-high of 30 points in a 71-69 win over College Park of Pleasant Hill. He already has 22 points this week in a 67-49 win over Fortuna in the North Coast Section Div. IV playoffs.
* Trevor Peterson (Leigh, San Jose)
It was a fat sandwich for the Longhorns’ guard in three games last week in the Blossom Valley Athletic League playoffs. The 6-foot-4 senior started the week with 26 points in a 63-20 win over San Jose Lincoln. He followed that up with a 46-point effort in an 83-78 win over Santa Teresa (San Jose) that included 11 makes on 3-point shots, a number that falls just short of making the state record book. Finally, in a 50-37 playoff title-game victory over a Piedmont Hills of San Jose team that the Longhorns had lost to twice during the regular season, Peterson deposited 23 points to give him 95 points total for the three games.
* Chris Swartz-Edmisten (Sacramento Waldorf, Fair Oaks)
The state's top reported scorer who is averaging 34.6 points per game poured in 41 points as the Waves ended the regular season with a 74-67 win over Victory Christian of Carmichael.

Cal-Hi Sports Boys State Stat Stars for this week
The Cal-Hi Sports site is out with this week's Boys State Stat Stars and here are the northern California entries:
* Jamir Andrews (Dublin)
The 6-foot-2 junior went for a season-high 34 points in a 66-63 win over Martinez Alhambra.
* Isiah Brown (Richmond)
He has had higher totals than the 35 points he scored against De Anza of Richmond, but it had to feel the best as the Oilers won for the first time this season by a 77-76 final score.
* Paris Davis (Skyline, Oakland)
There was no European vacation for Paris in his team's battle for first place in a Oakland Athletic League game with Oakland Tech. The 6-foot-3 senior posted a double-double with 29 points and 12 rebounds, and the Titans needed all of it in a 67-65 victory.
* Ali Faruqbey (San Lorenzo)
The junior was a Rebel with a cause in a 73-54 win over Moreau Catholic of Hayward. He had a huge double-double of 33 points and 19 rebounds.
* Jordan Franklin (Trinity Prep, Napa)
Battling his way to a 32-point per game scoring average, this sophomore guard scored 34 points in a 52-34 win over Freedom Christian before scoring 34 points in a 63-44 loss to Global Youth Charter and 34 points in a 62-49 loss to New Life Christian.
* Olajuwon Garner (Deer Valley, Antioch)
The senior guard was 6-of-9 from beyond the arc and scored 25 of his game-high 34 points in the second and third quarter of a 90-84 win over BVAL rival Freedom of Oakley.
* Aaron Gordon (Archbishop Mitty, San Jose)
The 6-foot-8 junior did it again. Points number 27 and 28 and rebound No. 16 came on a tip-in with four seconds left in overtime to seal a 60-58 win over host Sacred Heart Cathedral of San Francisco.
* Tajai Johnson (Vallejo)
A senior guard headed to UC Riverside, Johnson matched his season-high with 34 points but this time it came in a winning effort as the Apaches defeated Rodriguez of Fairfield 88-79.
* Richard Longrus (Bishop O'Dowd, Oakland)
The 6-foot-7, 210-pound Washington State-bound power forward flexed his muscles with a double-double 25 points and 15 rebounds (six blocks) in a 74-31 drubbing of Hayward Tennyson. Longrus has become the star for the 19-5 Dragons this year in his third varsity season.
* Josh Mooney (Monte Vista Christian, Watsonville)
Mooney’s number didn’t quite reach the Moon his past two games, but he returns to this feature with stratospheric numbers. First he had 39 points, eight rebounds and seven assists an 82-63 win over Christopher of Gilroy. Then he came back this week with 34 points (seven 3-pointers), nine assists, six steals and five rebounds in a 70-58 Monterey Bay League playoff win over a Christopher team that would like to see Moon orbit a different planet.
* Daniel Selsor (Archbishop Riordan, San Francisco)
Despite averaging less than seven points per game, the senior guard came up huge in a 68-59 upset of St. Francis of Mountain View. Selsor had a lot of fizz after finishing with 26 points, three rebounds and two steals in the victory. According to WCAL stat man Pat Segurson, Selsor also tied a Riordan school record with six 3-pointers.

In a narrow 69-65 Delta River League win over Ponderosa of Shingle Springs, Woody lit up the scoreboard for 47 points to lead the Bulldogs. His season-high before this explosion was just 29 and he didn’t reach double figures in his three previous outings.
