In Honolulu, San Diego State took down USF 80-58 as Chase Tapley was 'en fuego' with 33 points. Xavier Thames went for 10 points plus three assists.

Host San Diego State turned back UC Santa Barbara 84-70 last night as Chase Tapley totaled 23 points, powered by 6-8 shooting from long distance.

For the Gauchos, Nate Garth passed for nine assists.

San Diego State handled Texas Southern 74-62 last night with Chase Tapley back and scoring 16 points while passing for five assists.

SDSU in a romp

As expected, San Diego State downed San Diego Christian 91-57 last night. Chase Tapley produced 18 points, six boards, five assists, three blocked shots and a trio of steals. Xavier Thames totaled nine points and two assists.

Tapley leads the Aztecs past local foe

As expected, San Diego State had no trouble with UC San Diego last night to the tune of 80-56. Chase Tapley led the Aztecs with 15 points.

San Diego State wins

San Diego State took down visiting Cal State San Marcos 67-46 last night with Chase Tapley leading the Aztecs with 13 points. The two teams were tied at 26 after the initial 20 minutes.

Tapley and Xavier Thames (seven points, three assists, three steals) started in the backcourt.

Jose (De la Salle) Rivera totaled seven points for CSSM and Adam (Woodland) Eakles added four rebounds and two points.

He’s SDSU’s best shooter and the guy that often has the ball in his hands in crunch-time. He can do a little bit of everything on the floor and has been through the battles — barring a disaster this year, he’ll be the first player in program history to play in four NCAA tournaments. Thames is SDSU’s play-maker, and his ability to get out and run the floor is one of the reasons SDSU will be looking to push the pace this season..."

The seasons for Chase Tapley and Xavier Thames

The San Diego State season has concluded with the Aztecs boasting a 26-8 record so how did NorCal products Chase Tapley and Xavier Thames perform?

Tapley scored 15.8 points per game (second on the team) while shooting 46%, 43% and 72% respectively. He led the Aztecs with 60 steals, grabbed 4.3 rebounds a contest and passed for 77 assists.

Thames averaged 10.1 points per game (third on the team) shooting 40%, 31% and 83% overall. He topped the team with 128 assists while collaring 3.2 boards each time out.

Tapley will be a senior next season, Thames a junior.

NC State over SD State

North Carolina State end San Diego State's season yesterday 79-65. Chase Tapley posted 19 points, six boards and four assists for the Aztecs.

New Mexico 68, San Diego State 59

Chase Tapley puts up 25 points and nabbed five rebounds but San Diego State still fell to New Mexico tonight 68-59. Drew Gordon didn't shoot all that well (5-14) for the victors but still totaled 12 points and 12 boards plus two assists, two steals and two blocked shots. New Mexico is in the Big Dance representing the Mountain West Conference while San Diego State will likely receive an at-large bid.

SDSU beats Colorado State

San Diego State proved 10 better than Colorado State, 79-69, in a Mountain West Conference semifinal tournament game tonight. Chase Tapley contributed 17 points, six assists, four assists and a pair of steals for the victors.

San Diego State by three

San Diego State topped Boise State 65-62 led by 20 points, four assists and four steals from Chase Tapley. Xavier Thames went for 14 points, plus five boards, three assists and a pair of steals. The victory opened Mountain West Conference tournament play for the Aztecs.

San Diego State over TCU

San Diego State handled Texas Christian University 98-92, aided by Chase Tapley's 18 points/six boards/four assists plus 16 points and seven boards from Xavier Thames.

Host San Diego State got back to its winning ways tonight in beating Wyoming by nine points. Xavier Thames posted nine points and six assists while Chase Tapley scored 10 in an off-shooting night.
