Josh Gershon on Dakarai Allen
From Josh Gershon after viewing Sheldon High's play recently down south:
"Dakarai Allen, SF, Sheldon: Allen did it all in a tight win against Redondo Union. He was aggressively attacking the rim from buzzer to buzzer, and usually either scored the points or got to the charity stripe. He tallied up some steals and blocks on defense – including some big ones down the stretch – and had some nice drive and dishes to teammates for assists. Allen hit a step-back jumper from about 15-feet out that helped seal the game for his team. Few players on the West Coast impact the game in as many areas that Allen does and he scored 34 points in his final game of the tournament."

DAllen noted for his defensive prowess
Eric Bossi (a Rivals sub is required) has selected Dakarai Allen as one of the best perimeter defenders in the prep ranks:
"The 6-foot-5 small forward from Sacramento (Calif.) Sheldon is a four-star prospect who ranks No. 106 nationally. Much of that ranking has to do with his prowess on the defensive end. Allen has the quickness and balance to stay with smaller players while his lean strength, length and overall tenacity allow him to hang with bigger wings. He should create havoc whenever San Diego State wants to turn up the pressure"

More on Dakarai Allen
Learned from Raphielle Johnson's post: that Dakarai Allen is the nephew of former Dallas Cowboy offensive lineman Larry Allen.
Mark Ziegler references the negative recruiting Allen experienced due to San Diego State's Big West Conference affiliation.

Dakarai Allen decides
A tip o' the cap to Dakarai Allen for his earning a basketball scholarship from Coach Steve Fisher and San Diego State. Lindsey Thiry has Josh Gershon talking about the commitment.
San Diego State's new membership in the Big West didn't play a factor here and Fisher is mighty glad of that.

Wouldn't this be something
Per Cameron Schott: "2013 Sheldon teammates Dakarai Allen and Darin Johnson will take official visits to San Diego State this weekend"
Any chance they will both become Aztecs?

Allen get Bruins offer
From Alex Kline/The Recruit Scoop (a Rivals sub is required): UCLA has now offered Dakarai Allen but San Diego State remains numero uno.
As said before, Ben Howland needs more Allen types but it's fascinating that a Pac-12 member, the most illustrious one at that, is in the Avis position at best right now.

A PHPS duo getting national pub
Eric Bossi on two of the finest in northern California:
Another West Coaster that deserves serious consideration for the class of 2013 Rivals150 is combo guard Darin Johnson. He was solid at the Reebok Breakout Challenge and looked good again playing with his summer squad Play Hard Play Smart. He is an athlete, he can shoot with range and he can definitely create for himself via the dribble. It's pretty difficult to see him not ending up on a high major roster and most of the Pac-12 has now offered him along with high-end, mid-majors -- if you can call them that -- such as San Diego State and Gonzaga.and
A teammate of Johnson's on Play Hard Play Smart, Rivals150 wing Dakarai Allen proved again to be a high level athlete and defender. Indications are strong that San Diego State is ahead of the pack and will be very tough to beat in his recruitment. Rumors were swirling over the weekend that he could commit to the Aztecs any day now.

Dakarai Allen doing the Aztec two step?
Alex Schwartz tells readers that Dakarai Allen is feeling it with San Diego State.
It would be a smart choice if SDSU turns out to be the one. His skill set would dovetail with the style of the Aztecs, he would certainly earn playing time and he would be win a lot of games.
* major props if you 'get' the musical reference in the headline bit it's mighty obscure

Allen headed to the border?
Joe Davidson is back with another tweet: "Dakarai Allen of Sheldon-Sac hoops, a 6-6 wing, says he was wowed by phone
conversation with SD State coach Steve Fischer. Aztecs his fave now"
Just how did Steve Fisher turn the Aztec program into a consistent power? That's the basis for a great article but someone down there must have written it by now, right?
