Iroegbu goes with the Cougars

Well, the former Franklin High point is coming back west at least.

Per Josh Gershon: "Ikenna Iroegbu. Cougs landing a speedy PG with upside. RT @Be_LikeIKE Just committed to the zzu!! #WSU..."

A starting spot is wide open and playing time is there to be earned. The top returnee in assists passed for 69 with 55 TOs.

Iroegbu will be joining Richard Longrus in Pullman.

Iroegbu tripping to the Palouse

Per Alex Kline/The recruit Scoop (a Rivals sub is required), Washington State is officially hosting former Franklin point Ikenna Iroegbu. 

In addition to WSU, fellow Pac-12 members USC and Oregon State have also offered. Missouri has extended a request, too.

The Cougars need an upgrade at the point. 

Iroegbu's older brother Chuks walked on/redshirted in Pullman last season before transferring to City College of San Francisco.

An Ikenna Iroegbu update

Ikenna Iroegbu may be at Oak Hill in Virginia but he isn't forgotten in the west as various reports indicate offers from USC, Arizona State, Oregon State and Colorado as well as Nebraska, Missouri and Oklahoma State fro his services. He has unofficially visited UCLA, USC, Cal and Stanford. Will he decide to return to California?

It wasn't all that long ago when Ikenna Iroegbu was playing up in Sacramento. He has been in Virginia for a while and was at the Pangos event this weekend: Per Van Coleman "Ikenna Iroegbu 6-2 PG Mouth of Wilson, VA Oak Hill Academy - He surprised, or maybe reminded us that he has tools to run the show at a very high level. He played with Tyler Lewis at Oak Hill, and based on last night may be ready to take his spot with Warriors next fall. He has solid quicks and is an excellent passer with range to the arc... Will he continue to impress this weekend"

"California native Ikenna Iroegbu, a 6-foot-1 class of 2013 point guard who is headed to Oak Hill Academy (VA), has seen his recruitment pickup of late. At the end of May he had no offers, but has since picked up ones from Arizona, USC, Colorado and Oklahoma State..."

One tidbit: Iroegbu said that his brother’s presence in Pullman will have “a little bit” of an impact on him, but that he will do what he feels is best for him.

A full throttle point guard, he's gotten to the rim at will and has had little trouble making plays for others. Ikenna Iroegbu, PG- A four-star prospect from the class of 2013, the Californian is extremely quick with the ball and puts pressure on defenders to stop his dribble penetration. While he gets into the lane when he wants and will make plays, Iroegbu is also out of control at times and needs to be sure that he has a plan in mind when he gets into the lane. As he settles down and improves his jumper, he's got the talent to move up in the rising junior class.

More from the national reporters on the Pangos event this weekend

Eric Bossi of Rivals (a sub is required) offered these items on northern California talents:

* Ikenna Iroegbu confirmed that he's headed to Oak Hill and he's got plenty of school interest. Oklahoma State, USC, Arizona, Colorado, Oregon, Washington State and UCLA.

* Aaron Gordon is one of 2013's elite prospects and he has a list of high level programs. He listed Kansas, Washington, Arizona, New Mexico, Cal and Stanford.

* Dominic Artis has a ton of recent interest and scholarship offers from Florida State, Cal, Washington State, Colorado, Nevada and Florida International. Recent callers have included Texas, Memphis, UCLA and Louisville.

No UCLA in the running for Gordon for obvious reasons as is the inclusion of New Mexico. But it's a guarantee it won't be the latter.

The best storyline that is developing right now is that of Dom Artis. It and he just keep getting better.

Jerry Meyer of Rivals (a sub is required) posted something interesting on Aaron Gordon:

* Aaron Gordon 2013, combo forward- A high-level athlete, Gordon is quick off the floor and changes direction with the dribble at an impressive rate of speed. Right now his strengths are slashing to the basket, making athletic/hustle plays and finding open teammates while he is on the move. As he learns to slow down his game a little on the offensive end, he should become a better outside shooter.

One scouting colleague compared him to a young Shawn Marion. That comparison makes a lot of sense to me.
