Time to move on

Reeves Nelson's lawsuit against Sports Illustrated has been dismissed.

Here's another take.

Of course, there was reaction:

Seth Davis: "I never did understand the logic of someone who was dismissed for "violating team rules" suing someone for defaming his character."

Wendell Maxey goes long on the subject of Reeves Nelson -- nothing new or revelatory but a solid summary.

This is not good

From Jonathan Givony/DraftExpress:

"After just five weeks in Lithuania, former UCLA PF Reeves Nelson was released by Zalgiris today. Team elected not to pick up his option"

Granted, there can many reasons for being dropped but Nelson needs to display stability to the NBA folks.

Here's the Draft Express folks with an older analysis of Nelson and the NBA draft.

Reeves Nelson off the team

To nobody's surprise, Coach Ben Howland has parted ways with Reeves Nelson -- Diane Pucin reports in an extremely forthright article.

Howland had to make this move or he would have lost his standing in the worlds of college basketball and recruiting, plus maybe his current team.

Nobody should be garnering any joy at this latest move, nor should any 'I told you so' proclamations be bandied about. Neither reactions adds anything positive to the situation.

Instead, it's a time of sadness in that a wonderful occupational and educational situation has been fumbled away.

But more importantly, it is an opportunity for Nelson to get right with his life. Until that is in order, basketball serves no purpose.

Now Reeves Nelson is suspended, not dropped

Tracy Pierson has updated his earlier report to indicate Reeves Nelson has been suspended, for the second time, but this one is termed indefinite.

ESPN's Dana O'Neill offers unsolicited advice for Coach Ben Howland.

UCLA riffs

Any possibility that UCLA ends up with both a new football AND basketball coach for next year? Heck, maybe even a new AD?

Two head projects on a basketball team (the other being a still overweight Josh Smith) eliminates any possibility for court chemistry.

What seems amazing is just look at the Bruin roster -- somebody's evaluation meter is broken.

Plus, top national recruit Shabazz Muhammad and his family have to be wondering about joining Dysfunction Junction in Westwood.

On a totally different subject, what's up with De'End Parker? He suffered a concussion in late October so is that still hindering him from returning?

Reeves Nelson gone?

BruinsreportOnline is reporting that Reeves Nelson is no longer on the UCLA basketball team.

Just speculating but is San Diego State in his future? Any other possibilities?

Matters are disintegrating further down UCLA way

The latest tweet from Jeff Goodman:

"Ben Howland's desperation continuing to show. Reeves Nelson misses team bus and takes later flight to Maui. Inmate running the asylum?"
