UCLA's Lane bouncing back after tough year

UCLA has had a lot of greats walk through Pauley Pavilion. Even in that esteemed company, the late, great Wizard of Westwood would have seen Rocklin's Brendan Lane holding his own and sticking to his motto.

Lane, a 6-foot-9 sophomore and 2009 graduate of Rocklin High, decided to play basketball at UCLA because of the school's history and winning tradition. With the goal of becoming a better basketball player, Lane chose to become a Bruin over most other Pac-10 schools.

Shortly into Lane's collegiate career, however, a culmination of ankle sprains led to ligament damage. An ensuing surgery on his left ankle brought his freshman season to a halt. The injury was tough on Lane, but it was the rehabilitation process that proved to be the hardest part...
