Salesian falls to Montverde

In the Palms Tournament (Ft. Myers, Fla.) in first round play on Friday:

Montverde Academy 55, Salesian 42

Salesian High

Jabari Bird 5 2-2 12
Mario Dunn 3 3-4 9
Markel Leonard 2 2-2 7
Jermaine Edmonds 2 0-0 4
Jeffrey Parker 1 0-0 3
Freddie Tagaloa 1 0-0 2
Davion Mize 1 2-2 4
Jawian Harrison 0 1-3 1

From Brian Bosworth at NBE Basketball:
Jabari Bird (Salesian 2013) – Standing at 6’6” Bird is one of the most coveted shooting guards in the 2013 class. He constantly worked his way into the paint off the dribble and finished with floaters, dunks, and pull up jumpers. He also drew help defenders and then found open teammates for easy looks off his penetration. Bird did not show 3 point range (no attempts) but did everything else offensively you would want from a 2 guard.

DA lands third offer

Salesian High and Oakland Soldier point Dominic Artis has received his third basketball scholarship offer. The 2012 backcourter received his initial invite from Nevada a few weeks ago, then Washington State, and now Cal's Mike Montgomery just extended. That's one from the Mountain West and a pair from the PAC-12 conferences.

Congrats to the Bay Shore Athletic League most valuable player.

Any guessing on who else joins the beginning-to-be-a-crowd in pursuit once DA is out and about this summer?
