Santa Clara has a trio of new players

Santa Clara Coach Kerry Keating has announced the signing of three newcomers -- all prep prospects.

SC 'Fosterizes' St. Louis

Santa Clara traveled to St. Louis to challenge the Billikens and the Broncos came away with a solid 74-62 victory. Guard Kevin Foster dominated with 30 points, seven steals and five assists.

Josh Gershon tweeted: "It's been pretty clear that Jalen Richard is a steal for Santa Clara. The 2013 wing can flat out score." Richard is an Arizona high schooler.


Plus, the Broncos have Soma Edo on campus this weekend. The 6-foot-5 jump-out-of-the-building Texas prepster has also tripped to Murray State and Fresno State. His skills set at the moment is that of a power forward.

Vernon goes with the Cowboys

Josh Gershon tweets: "2013 Tulare (Calif.) Union PF Keonta Vernon has committed to Wyoming"

Santa Clara also offered the 6-foot-6 frontcourter who seemingly has a more promising future on the gridiron but it's the roundball for him.

Interesting choice considering UC Santa Barbara was also in the running but Wyoming is in the higher level Mountain West Conference.

Santa Clara in the running

Scott Sommer tweeted: "Tulare (Calif.) Union forward Keonta Vernon is down to UCSB, NAU, Santa Clara & Wyoming. Decision will come next week"

Vernon is a 6-foot-6, 210-pound 2013 power forward.

More on Pugh going with Santa Clara

It was noted that Jarvis Pugh committed to Santa Clara last week and Blue Zertuche of TexasHoops has more (a Rivals sub is required):

* "It came down to Texas State and Santa Clara for 6-foot-6 Jarvis Pugh..."

* "...is a athletic swingman who can go inside and outside and works hard all over the court. He goes to the hole strong from 15 feet, has a nice touch in the paint, can finish in transition and runs the floor hard. He can create from the mid-range, is an effective scorer in the lane, is quick to the boards and works hard on defense. He isn't a flashy player but makes plays with his effort and nose for the ball."

Coach Kerry Keating and Santa Clara are hosting Illinois prepster  Sean O'Brien this weekend.

Santa Clara offers a Texas point

Blue Zertuche is reporting (a Rivals sub is required):

Point guard Ken Williams of Houston Episcopal has three offers, South Alabama, Santa Clara, and Wichita State. September 28 is Williams' scheduled visit to South Alabama. Williams also says that he is still receiving interest from Alabama, Texas A&M and LSU.

From Frank Woodford: "Michael Thomas is a 6'5" 190lbs small forward considering #SantaClara #BoiseState #Hawaii and others."

Woodford earlier tweeted that the 2013 Thomas, a prepster out of SoCal, had just tripped to Northern Arizona.

Illini shooter hitting SC this weekend

Santa Clara has Jared Brownridge visiting.

Brownridge is a 6-foot-2 prep shooting guard out of Illinois. He's a very efficient scorer with exceptional shooting range and has offers from a number of teams in the Midwest.

Santa Clara nabs a verbal

Coach Kerry Keating and Santa Clara have a new backcourter -- 2013 6-foot-3 prepster Jalen Richard out of Arizona.

From Ron Coleman/Arizona Varsity (a Rivals sub is required): "...Richard is an exceptional athlete and is one of the better shooters in the state. At 6-foot-3, 182 pounds, he has great size for the position as he has the physical strength and quickness to guard either guard position..."

Santa Clara gets creative

Shirmane Thomas tweeted: "Santa Clara just sent me a package with a whole bunch of PRINTED Dimes with a letter inside saying we need you to throw more dimes than this"

He's a 6-foot-2 2013 Texas shooting guard who plays for Prime Prep Academy and the Urban DFW Elite club team.

Santa Clara offers a Seattle wing

Kevin Cacabelos is out with his Top 25 prepsters in Seattle and Santa Clara Coach Kerry Keating has extended an offer to one of the talents:

Tre'Shaun Lexing (Sr.)- Lincoln, F, 6'6": Lexing is not the type of player who is going to take over games by himself, but his length and athleticism project him as an effective player at the next level. He shows solid ability to get to the rim and finish in transition, but will need to improve his shooting touch. Two prospects offered by the Broncos

Coach Kerry Keating/Santa Clara has extended a pair of offers:

Blue Zertuche: "...Brandon Parrish (Urban DFW) from Arlington Seguin has acquired nine offers. Rice, TCU, Iowa, Colorado State, Richmond, Colorado, Vanderbilt, Marquette and Santa Clara have all offered and are in the running for official visits..."

Parrish is a 6-foot-5 small forward out of Texas described as a "wing has good size, can shoot and is a good athlete who plays on both ends."

and

Frank Woodford: "...'[Tim] Kempton currently holds offers from Northern Arizona, Idaho, Idaho State, Air Force, Weber State, Houston Baptist, Rice and Santa Clara. The power forward also says that San Diego and Lehigh are some of the schools recruiting him the hardest..."

He's 6-foot-8 and 210, the son of former Notre Dame and NBA big of the same name. One description: "Kempton is a terrific spot-up shooter who can knock down shots within 17-feet all over the court. His release is high and he possesses a soft touch. In addition, he has become much stronger in the upper body since the spring."

A Rivals sub is required to access both features.
