Another possible St. Mary's recruit

Eric Bossi of Rivals recently posted: "Elijah Brown: The 6-foot-3 southpaw from Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei is a nicely built and fundamentally sound two guard. He tends to operate by the "feels like leather" mode on the offense, where he shoots anything that feels like leather. However, he is pretty effective with that approach and plays without fear. While his biggest asset is a jumper that he can hit off the catch or dribble, Brown is a fine athlete who can finish above the rim. Butler and St. Mary's are current standouts in his recruitment...."

He's the son of Mike Brown, the now former Laker coach.

The recruiting pressure is always there

Chris Johnson writes about the pressures of mid-major recruiting. It's there even if the number of stars, dots, asterisks, etc. next to a prospect's name is three or even two.

Two NorCal schools liking Elijah Brown

Jeff Borzello notes: "Elijah Brown has the Pac-12 on him, as well as Butler, San Francisco and Saint Mary's"

Brown, a 6-foot-3 2013 backcourter, is the son of Lakers Coach Mike Brown.

Just found this, from Brian Flinn: "Elijah Brown, 2013 PG, Double Pump Elite- The son of Lakers head coach Mike Brown, Eli showed a high basketball IQ as well as an ability to space the floor. He knocked down 6 threes en route to knocking out a talented New England Playaz program. His shooting ability is his best asset right now and it will be interesting to see how he takes the reins at Mater Dei during his senior year. He currently holds offers from St. Mary’s and San Francisco while Pac-12 programs like Washington and Arizona state are starting to show serious interest"

The Gaels after a 2014 backcourter

From Frank Woodford on a 6-foot-1 Arizona prep prospect:
Casey Benson - 2014 Point Guard from Corona Del Sol High School
Benson was as good as advertised over the weekend. He showed great court vision and an ability to get his teammates involved. He knew when and where to bring the ball, hit teammates in the right spots, and understood when to look for his own shot. He shot the ball well from deep and was able to draw fouls and make his free throws. Corona Del Sol High School was upset, but the rising junior played as well as anyone in the tournament. The point guard has received offers from Arizona State, Saint Mary's, Boise State, Boston College, USC and, most recently, Colorado. Benson has taken unofficial visits to Arizona State and Boise State so far and says Arizona State and Saint Mary's are the schools recruiting him the hardest at the moment. Benson has a high basketball IQ and is a coach on the court. Whichever program he decides upon will be getting a winner.

St. Mary's active in recruiting

A tweet from Dave Telep: "St. Mary's got quite the player in Cullen Neal, son of Lobos asst. and former NBA guard Craig Neal. Big addition for the Gaels in 2013"

Another MD minus the accent?

Plus, this is from Eric Sondheimer/Los Angeles Times:

"College interest is picking up for the Los Angeles Fairfax senior guard duo of Landon Drew and Brendyn Taylor ... Taylor is setting up recruiting visits to St. Mary's and Wyoming and a recruiter from USC watched practice on Monday ..."
