USF after a NJ point

From Alex Kline: "San Francisco has offered 2013 Roselle Catholic (NJ) PG Hakim Saintil, he tells me"

Saintil is 5-foot-10, 170 pounds with Rivals listing Cincinnati, Rhode Island, South Carolina and SMU as also having offered.

ESPN posted this back on July 30, 2011: "He's a scoring point guard who can make open 3-point shots off the catch as well as in a pick-and-roll situation. He reads his defender going under the screen and can step back and knock down a 3. Plus, once he gets into the painted area he can score the ball or find his open teammates and deliver an assist. Defensively, he has quick feet and active hands and at times he can pick the ball handler for a clean steal."

More on the Hilltop Dons

Ben Martin assesses USF -- best quote: "We’ve got shooters,” [Cody] Doolin said. “We’ve got guys that can post up, we’ve got guys that can take you off the dribble, but we are not very wide in the backside ... and we’re just going to have to learn how physical it is on this level.”

Zack Farmer on USF hoops

Zack Farmer looks ahead at USF hoops with some solid points made.

However, point per games averages in summer Pro-Am play need not be included because they are meaningless.

Hey, anyone know if Frank Rogers is still to be redshirted?

Another USF offer for a 2014 prospect

Here's Eric Bossi on a 2014 Arizona prep backcourter USF has now offered: "Another day of watching how few point guards can make shots only illustrates more why Casey Benson is getting the attention that he's getting from high major and upper end mid major programs. The three-star from the class of 2014 isn't a burner, but he is very clever in the pick-and-roll. Also, his 6-foot-2 size and shot-making will allow him to play some off the ball, making him more versatile and thus valuable to his team"

It's fascinating how many 2014s are being offered when the earliest the 2013s can sign is November.

USF lands a big, make that a gigantic

Dons Central has the scoop on Tao Xu, who is not a distant relative of Sidd Finch. Here's the link to the link of an article all about the 6-foot-11, 260-pounder.

That breeze you are feeling is Mark Tollefsen and Frank Rogers breathing sighs of relief. Maybe Rogers redshirts now, as was the original plan.

The USF Dons 2012-13 roster

Think big. Go big. How about play big?

That's what Coach Rex Walters will need to see come November as the current USF Don 2012-13 roster features 6-foot-9 freshman Matt Christiansen, 6-foot-9 redshirt frosh Mark (San Ramon Valley High) Tollefsen and 6-foot-9 sophomore JC transfer Frank (Salinas High, Cabrillo College) Rogers as masters of the middle.

Neither Tollefsen nor Rogers yet have the bulk to belly up with the opposing beasts so Christiansen will definitely need to be ready.

Why Mr. Blackwell, why?
