USF handled Cal State East Bay 73-58 last night behind a team-leading 18 points from De'End Parker but the game was much closer than the final score.

Gabe Kindred's 14 points paced the Pioneers.

USF pursuing an Oregon shooting guard

Per Tony Jones, Utah has now also offered A.J. Lapray, a 2013 shooting guard out of Oregon. Jones has Oregon State, UTEP and USF as the other suitors in the running.

USF takes down SF State

Host USF topped the San Francisco State Gators 93-77 last night as De'End Parker went for 20 points. Former San Ramon Valley frontcourter Mark Tollefson added five points in 16 minutes for the Dons.

Nefi (Skyline High) Perdomo went for 23 points and Robbie (St. Patrick St. Vincent) Herndon scored 16 for Gator Coach Paul Trevor. Decensae (Serra High) White contributed nine points and four rebounds in 16 minutes.

Eric Bossi on Jared Stutzman

Eric Bossi (a Rivals sub is required), on prospect Jared Stutzman:

"Idaho isn't exactly a hotbed for Division one prospect, but class of 2014 target Jared Stutzman has started to generate a nice buzz. A three-star shooting guard at Idaho Falls (Idaho) Bonneville, Stutzman had a very nice summer playing with Utah Pump 'N Run and caught the eye of several programs. According to his father Brian, Stutzman now holds offers from Utah, Weber State, Idaho State, Utah State, San Francisco, and Portland. Among those starting to show increased attention are Hawaii, Colorado, Butler and Stanford. The junior will most likely take advantage of a rule allowing to take official visits and San Francisco and Portland are in line to get two of them after the start of 2013. In the meantime, Stutz is looking into setting up unofficial visits to the programs closer to home."

Nixon to BYU

2014 Utah forward Dalton Nixon, has committed to BYU (where his father played). USF had offered.

USF target goes Ivy League

It's hard to top an Ivy League school:

Yale picked up a commitment earlier this summer from J.T. Flowers, a six-foot-six big guard from Lincoln High School in Portland, Oregon.  

Flowers graduated in June and will attend Choate Rosemary Hall as a post-graduate next year. He held previous offers from Arizona State, San Francisco, and Idaho among others and shined at the Yale Elite Camp in June.  

With good size and athleticism along with tremendous length, Flowers has the skill set and versatility to play multiple positions and impact the game on both sides of the floor. 

USF got a visit

From Percy Allen's UW basketball blog - 6-foot-11 Florida International transfer Gilles Dierickx checked out USF:

(What other schools were you considering?) "I took a visit to San Francisco and USC since I've been back on the West Coast. Mainly those two, but I also contacted LMU and Pepperdine and Cal-State Fullerton."

Coach Max Ivany's site offers a feature on 2014 Texas prepster Chase Carlton who was recently at the USF camp and atte4nds Cody Doolin's high school. Coach Rex Walters regularly recruits in the Lone State State so this is a site to bookmark.

USF heading south of the border

USF is headed to Mexico in mid-August for a series of basketball games and fans of the Dons can go along for the experience.

This should really help a team with a large number of newcomers needing integrating into the offensive and defensive systems.

USF takes down Loyola Marymount

USF proved seven points better than Loyola Marymount in the West Coast Conference quarterfinals 67-60. Senior Angelo Caloiaro didn't shoot all that well but ended up with eight points, six rebounds, five assists and a pair of steals.

USF topples Gonzaga

Here's the game report of USF's 66-65 nailbiter against visiting Gonzaga. Angelo Caloiaro had 10 points. The steals differential: the Don had 14 to two for the Zags.
