It doesn't appear he is searching for a summer home in Logan nor awaiting being awarded a key to the city by the mayor. Wendell is constitutionally incapable of ever being milquetoast and thankfully so.

Wendell McKines to redshirt this season

From New Mexico State athletics:

New Mexico State men’s basketball senior forward Wendell McKines has decided to redshirt the 2010-11 season, head coach Marvin Menzies announced. McKines has been sidelined this year due to a broken foot he sustained in mid-October.
 
“After going back and forth on this tough decision, we came to the conclusion that for all parties involved the best thing for Wendell was to return for his senior season next year,” Menzies said. “The deciding factors for Wendell were his desire to complete his degree and to have a full season under his belt in his final season.”
 
An All-WAC honorable mention selection in 2009-10, McKines averaged 10.7 points and 9.8 rebounds per game, a team-best mark. He started in 23 games as a junior en route to helping the Aggies to a WAC Tournament title and NCAA Tournament appearance. McKines shot 48.2 percent from the field, 37.2 percent from 3-point line and 56.5 percent at the free-throw line. He also had 74 assists, 17 blocks and 15 steals in his third season in the Crimson and White.
 
McKines now ranks No.6 on the all-time rebounding list at NM State with 761 boards. He ranked first in the WAC in conference games with 9.8 rebounds per game. McKines also posted nine double-doubles in 2009-10 and has 27 in his career.

"Was informed that after meeting with his doctor, Wendell McKines will not be able to practice for at least 2-3 weeks. He's still rehabbing the broken foot he suffered on the first weekend of practice and is still walking in a boot."

Former Richmond High star Wendell McKines is back on the court for New Mexico State. Last night, he scored eight points, grabbed eight rebounds and notched six assists in 26 minutes against Alcorn State.

LAS CRUCES — With the absence of Wendell McKines and Troy Gillenwater for at least the first seven games of the 2009 season, there appears to be a gaping hole in the paint for the New Mexico State men's basketball team.

"My role is going to be more important this year than last year," said redshirt sophomore center Hamidu Rahman. "Troy is not going to be here and (former center) Chris (Gabriel) transferred. I'm going to be the most experienced guy so I'm going to have to step it up more."

Rahman is one of six players who will fill in at the power forward and center positions this year.

In a best case scenario for Aggies fans, Gillenwater and McKines will be eligible after the final day of classes on Dec. 11. McKines — the leading rebounder in the Western Athletic Conference a year ago — and Gillenwater could return to the lineup at UTEP on Dec. 13...

...With the release of spring semester grades last week, there are players who have an uphill battle to return to the court in time for next season.

The biggest name is Wendell McKines, the Aggies' sophomore power forward who led the Western Athletic Conference in rebounding last season and averaged a double-double for Menzies.
