Johnson down to four

Via Garrett Tucker: "Darin Johnson says his final 4 schools are Washington, Oregon, San Diego State & Marquette"

So he could be playing with Desmond Simmons (and maybe Aaron Gordon) or Dom Artis or Dakarai Johnson and Malik Thames or Juan Anderson.

SJSU and two Sactown prospects

Per Doug Benton/NorCal Preps (a Rivals sub is required), San Jose State University has interest in a pair of Sacto area talents:
* Sheldon/PHPS Elite combo guard D'Erryl Williams had in-home visits with San Diego, Loyola Marymount and San Jose State with visits planned to all three schools. Columbia also came out to watch him play.

* Eric Duncan of Weston Ranch/PHPS Black is being recruited by San Jose State, Boise State, Southern Utah and Hawaii.

It's not far away

Saw this today and am guessing it applies to California Community College hoops too: October 1 marks the official start of junior college basketball practice.

Because we're the NCAA, that's why

Has the NCAA gone all David Byrne/Talking Heads and stopped making sense? Or does the preceding sentence indicate a veering away and thus sense was being made earlier?

Read David Steele's article.

Did the NCAA uncover additional questions/information about those prep school classes? Was it a different person/committee doing the interpretation this year? What changed?

Check out these Eric Nelson video highlights

Another Darin Johnson item

From Husky Haul: "Also UW is doing good with 4-star wing, Darin Johnson"

A decision that helped and hurt

So Oregon State Coach Craig Robinson just received a contract extension through the 2016=17 season.

It's always fun to speculate in these kind of instances so here goes.

If Arizona State doesn't mis-evaluate and turn away Jared Cunningham, is Herb Sendek's coaching seat much, much cooler and Craig Robinson's the reverse?

Didn't ASU decide to go with Demetrius Walker of George Dohrmann's book "Play Their Hearts Out" (now at New Mexico) instead?

Wright checking out Salt Lake City

CCSF talent Delon Wright is hitting Utah this weekend.

Seems too early for a JC commitment but who knows.

Here's our earlier September 4 post.
