Brown lead MIzzou

Jabari Brown went for 15 points (3-6 from long distance) in 22 minutes of play during Missouri's 79-62 success against Georgia last night.

Nor Cal talents power Fresno State to victory

Fresno State scored 46 points last night versus Wyoming and won by 13! Tyler (St. Francis High) Johnson totaled 18 points plus six boards to lead the Bulldogs, Jerry (Sacred Heart Cathedral High) Brown stuffed the stat sheet with six points, five boards, four steals, three assists and a trio of blocked shots while freshman Tanner (Windsor High) Giddings finished with 10 points and four rebounds.

Lumpkins big night not enough

Lehigh was four better (61-57) than American University last night despite a 10 point/17 rebound effort from Stephen (Serra High) Lumpkins.

Manley contributes to win

Kent State took down Buffalo last night 80-68 with Devareaux (Castlemont High) Manley totaling 10 points (4-7 overall shooting), three assists and two steals in 23 minutes of court time for the victors.

The Beau Levesque story

Beau Levesque did it the hard way, coming to St. Mary's on an academic scholarship and earning a basketball one.

Now checking in at 6-foot-6 and 220 as a junior, he is the third leading scorer for the Gaels this season at 10.5 points alongside 4.7 rebounds a game. He's shooting 51%, 40% and 84% respectively in just under 21 minutes a contest.

A fourth-year junior athletically (he sat out the 2010-11 season due to surgeries ion his right and left hips), Levesque contributed 15 points, four rebounds and a pair of assists in St. Mary's recent victory over USF.

Just prior to that, it was 14 points, five boards and two assists during 17 minutes of court time in the Gael loss to Gonzaga up in Spokane.

Against Loyola Marymount in the preceding contest, Levesque totaled 11 points, four caroms and an assist in 15 minutes of action in that victory.

Combine patience and continual effort with opportunity and Coach Randy Bennett is mighty glad he said yes.

Not good news on Kiwi

Midland College fell to Odessa College 56-54 on Monday but the takeaway for Bay Area basketball fans is this: "...had to play more minutes at point guard Monday because starting freshman point guard Kiwi Gardner has been suspended indefinitely for violating team rules..."
