When Chris McNealy was in eighth grade, he stopped by San Ramon Valley High School to play pickup basketball during an open-gym night the school was hosting.

The Wolves' boys basketball coach, John Raynor, noticed McNealy and asked his name.

"I told him my name and he said 'Come with me, I have something to show you,' " McNealy said. "He told me he coached my dad (at San Jose State) and showed me a picture of him from then. Ever since then, we've had a really good bond..."
