So when the proverbial dust settles and Aaron Gordon, Marcus Lee and Jabari Bird are settled in at their respective college, is there another group in the Bay Area or northern California ready to fill such large shoes so to speak?
Any such discussion has to begin with Bishop O'Dowd's Ivan Rabb. It's probably heretical to write this but with his blossoming skills set and athletic ability, he will have the opportunity to be a one and done.
Then there is Malik Pope out of Sacramento. The national analysts became enthralled with him this summer and come spring Pope will again be the subject of major press.
Writing such about so young a pair of prospects seems silly in some ways but so be it.
Who else has the possibility of going national?
Jalen Canty of St. Patrick/St. Vincent has been impressive to date but he currently stands 6-foot-6.
St. Ignatius' Trevor Dunbar, while highly skilled, faces a similar dilemma at 5-foot-7.
May 6-foot-8 Jonathan Galloway, now of Salesian, will come on strong or Elliott Smith, the 6-foot-6 wing from Freedom.
The Sacramento area also has a bevy of young-ish talents looking to create a buzz.
So who else is a diamond in the rough with the possibility of going national?
