The headline sounds high-falutin' but the content of Warren K. Zola's article is thorough though albeit brief. To his credit, he offers some suggestions.
What's fascinating is the underlying mission of the academic institutions may be at variance with that of the athletic departments and, as someone put it, never the twain shall meet.
The
athletic programs currently raking in the big bucks will be heading off
on their own in some way, shape and form but killing the golden goose
of The Big Dance would be the ultimate in stupidity.
By the way, do check out this college president and his sports-related expenses over the years. Yikes.
