It's not often that all five starters -- Will White 18 (alongside nine assists), Mitchell Love 15, David Straughter 14 (plus 10 boards) plus Trenton Anthony and Donald Mims with 10 apiece -- score in double figures. Mims also enjoyed five blocked shots in 25 minutes. Daylon Potts just missed a double-double via nine points and 10 rebounds.

Denzel (McClymonds High) Bellot led the Thunderbirds with 14 points and three teammates finished with 13, Jamelle (Castlemont High) Corbino (who also grabbed eight boards), Jovantae (El Cerrito High) Carlton and Rodney (Freedom High) Pope. It was a remarkable 23 assists on 27 baskets for Merritt.
