"The Butte College men’s basketball team’s run in the playoffs came to an end Saturday night in San Francisco. But the Roadrunners didn’t make it easy for the No. 1-seeded City College of San Francisco.

The ninth-seeded Roadrunners fell 62-60 against San Francisco on the road after rallying back from a 12-point deficit with 3 minutes, 36 seconds left in the second half.

Darrien Manker led the way for the Roadrunners with 17 points. Darae Elliot provided 12 points and grabbed 19 rebounds. Josiah Wood added 12 points and six rebounds while Brandon Sheppard had 11 points and six boards.

After falling behind 58-46, a pair of free throws and 3-ball from Manker helped inch Butte closer to San Francisco.

Wood hit a pair of free throws, then Elliot made a layup and followed up with a dunk that cut the lead to 62-59 with a little over a minute to play.

Elliot would hit one of two buckets from the line to trail 62-60 but Butte couldn’t get any closer as time ran out..."
