"Taavi Jurkatamm, a 6-9, 210 lb. forward from Tallinn, Estonia, has signed a national letter of intent to attend the University of San Francisco.
Jurkatamm was named the U-18 Estonia National Player of the Year in 2016 and represented his country at both the U-18 and U-20 FIBA Championships. He averaged 10 points and 3.5 rebounds in 20.8 minutes of action per game in the U-20 FIBA Championships. His youth team also won the U-18 Estonian Championship and finished second in the U-19 tournament. Jurkatamm also averaged 13.5 points and 7.1 rebounds a game for Noorteliliga in the Korvpalli Meistriliiga (KML).
"We are very fortunate to have Taavi join our program," said USF head coach Kyle Smith. "He is another frontcourt player with length and size who can guard multiple positions. He can also stretch defenses with his guard-like skills and ability to shoot. He has proven that he can connect from the international line in his FIBA competitions which should translate well to the NCAA line. His international experience should prove very valuable as he transitions to the West Coast Conference."
Jurkatamm will join Souley Boum, a 6-3 combo guard from Oakland Tech and Erik Poulsen, a 6-11 center from Santa Rosa Junior College, as newcomers on next year's roster."
