The seasons for Angelo Caloiaro and Jay Wey

It certainly was Angelo Caloiaro time on The Hilltop this season as the senior led Coach Rex Walters' squad with 14.2 points per game and was a very close second with both  his 6.0 boards plus his 2.4 assists per contest. he shot 49% overall, 39% from long range and 79% at the foul line.

Additionally, former Mitty guard Jay Wey played just over six minutes each time out, including two starts. He averaged 2.3 points per contest, shooting 39%, 42% and 50%.

The Dons finished 20-14 overall in 2011-2012 and 8-8 in West Coast Conference action.

St. Mary's 83, USF 78

Rob Jones and Brad Waldow totaled 11 points/13 rebounds/five assists and 12 points/six boards respectively as St. Mary's got past USF 83-78 last night. Angelo Caloiaro had an off-shooting night for the Dons but still contributed seven rebounds and six assists. It's the Gaels versus Gonzaga tonight for the West Coast Conference tournament championship.

USF takes down Loyola Marymount

USF proved seven points better than Loyola Marymount in the West Coast Conference quarterfinals 67-60. Senior Angelo Caloiaro didn't shoot all that well but ended up with eight points, six rebounds, five assists and a pair of steals.

Caloiaro paces USF to victory

USF topped Portland 87-66 tonight behind 19 points from Angelo Caloiaro. It's Loyola Marymount next for the Dons in the quarterfinals of the West Coast Conference tournament.

St. Mary's 67, USF 60

Led by Rob Jones 14/14 double-double plus Brad Waldow's own 10/12 double-double, the visiting Gaels proved to be seven points better than the Dons tonight. Angelo Caloiaro posted a line of 12 points, right rebounds and five assists, the latter two numbers the best on the USF team for the night.

USF fell 85-84 to visiting BYU but Angelo Caloiaro had another big night for the Dons with 23 points, six rebounds, five assists, two steals and a pair of blocked shots.

It was down in Silicon Valley but USF still topped Santa Clara 90-77, paced by 20 points from Angelo Caloiaro. Niyi Harrison led the Broncos starters with 13.

Matthew Dellevadova led with 27 points and Rob (Riordan High) Jones totaled 19 and nine in leading St. Mary's to a 15 point victory the Dons.

USF was paced by Angelo (Archbishop Mitty) Caloiaro's 20 plus. He added three assists and three steals.

Holy Cross five better than USF

Host Holy Cross took down USF 88-83 as Angelo (Archbishop Mitty) Caloiaro's very efficient 16 points and four rebounds weren't enough for the Dons. Former Miramonte High big Eric Obeysekere carried the night for the Crusaders with 15 rebounds, 10 points and five blocked shots.

Former Archbishop Mitty star Angelo Caloiaro posted a 29/11 double-double in USF's 79-69 win over visiting Pacific. What a contributor he has developed into since his unsung days at Mitty.

Angelo Caloiaro's team-leading 22 points (5-for-8 overall, 4-of-7 from three-point range) plus four rebounds and three assists weren't enough as the Dons fell to New Mexico State 81-71. Caloiaro is averaging 14 points and seven boards a game.

Way up in Alaska, New Mexico State topped USF 81-71. Locals Wendell McKines totaled 17 points and seven boards for NMSU while Angelo Caloiaro registered 22 points for the Dons.
