A Lakeshow basketball and Mike Best update

The latest from Joe Fuca and the Lakeshow basketball organization:

Mike Best has received three offers so far in this open session: UC Santa Barbara, UC Irvine, and Boston University.

The Lakeshow is 8-0 in its first 8 games in the July period. Semi-final tomorrow against Arizona Pump n Run (our note: the latter is the team that ended up winning the Three Stripes tourney).

Chris Read to Ohlone

Castro Valley High and Lakeshow player Chris Read is headed to Coach John Peterson and Ohlone College. Read averaged 13.4 points and 7.4 rebounds a game playing for Coach Nick Jones on a Trojans squad that finished 30-2. Castro Valley fell 49-43 to state runnerup De La Salle High in the playoffs.

The Renegades were 16-12 overall, 7-5 in Coast Conference North play last season.

This will be a good opportunity for Chris to get his academics in order as well as to develop a standout skill, whether it be a mid-range jumper, a dribble-drive offensive game or as a lockdown defender (of which he certainly has the physical prerequisites to do so).
