Important numbers for the Aggies

UC Davis athletics has compiled some interesting stats on a few of the Aggies. Among those:

* "For the fourth consecutive week, Ryan Sypkens leads all players in the nation with 4.27 three-point field goals made per game. The junior guard is also ranked No. 6 in the country with his .522 three-point field goal percentage..."

* "Sophomore forward J.T. Adenrele is another Aggie that sits atop a statistical category; entering this weekend's game against the UC Irvine Anteaters, Adenrele leads all Big West players with a .618 field goal percentage, and is No. 4 in blocks averaging 1.5 per game..."

It's Davis by 11

It was UC Davis 82-71 over Nicholls State in a tourney game last night in Logan, Utah as Ryan Sypkens busted out for 28 points. He also contributed five boards and four assists.

Utah State 73, UC Davis 61

UC Davis visited Utah State last night and the Beehive State Aggies triumphed 73-61 over their California brethren.

For USU, Spencer (Yuba College) Butterfield started again and scored 14 points (4-6 from long distance) while grabbing seven boards in 28 minutes.

Ryan Sypkens totaled 12 points plus five boards for Davis. Foul trouble limited JT Adenrele to just 18 minutes.

Adenrele, Sypkens aid in Aggie victory

UC Davis got by Southern Illinois 78-70 last night in a tournament hosted by Utah State. Nor Cal affiliated talents JT Adenrele posted his second straight double-double consisting of 18 points and 11 boards with Ryan Sypkens totaling 15 points on 5-10 shooting from long distance.

Spartans by nine over Davis

San Jose State University topped host UC Davis 73-64 despite 18 points from Aggie backcourter Ryan Sypkens.

UC Davis falls to Idaho on the road

UC Davis certainly gave it a battle but fell in Moscow to Idaho 73-66. Ryan Sypkens contributed 14 points for the Aggies

Sypkens is back

Will Bellamy/Davis Enterprise writes about Ryan Sypkens' comeback from injury. In UC Davis' first two games, Sypkens averaged 17 points per contest, shooting 59% overall and 57% from long distance.

Davis falls to NAU

UC Davis hosted Northern Arizona on Sunday and fell to the Lumberjacks 85-82 despite 25 points from Ryan (Franklin High) Sypkens.

Davis falls short to OK ST

It was in Stillwater but UC Davis gave Oklahoma State all it could handle Friday night before falling 73-65.

Ryan (Franklin High) Sypkens totaled nine points and seven rebounds and Josh (Forest Lake Christian) Ritchart went for 10 and five.

In 24 minutes of play, freshman Darius (Sacramento High) Graham posted seven points, five boards and a team-leading four assists.

Just to clarify: Ryan Sypkens has NOT returned to the UC Davis lineup -- he is still out injured and will not be playing further this season. Either I misread the box score or his name was temporarily placed there. Sorry about the error.

Long Beach State 86, UC Davis 58

The game wasn't close but noteworthy for the Aggies is the return from injury of Ryan Sypkens to the UC Davis backcourt. He scored 10 points while grabbing six boards.

Correction: Ryan has NOT returned from his injury. Either it was my mistake or his name was temporarily placed in the box score. Sorry for the error.

Ryan Sypkens out for the season

Per Dave Carpenter: "UC Davis had another injury setback, however. Junior guard Ryan Sypkens will miss the rest of the season after having knee surgery, Coach Jim Les said. Sypkens, a Franklin High School graduate, will take a medical redshirt and have two years of eligibility left

The Aggies really needed Sypkens' ability to put points on the board this season.
