"Defense carrying surging Bobcats entering home weekend" -- Parker Gabriel
From the article: "...A key second-half stretch against Idaho also featured a new lineup combination featuring emerging junior forward Benson Osayande. The Casper (Wyoming) College transfer averages about 13 minutes, but entered with 17 minutes, 15 seconds remaining and didn’t come out until the 7:24 mark.
For stretches, Fish used Osayande at the five with sophomore Sam Neumann at the four and junior Zach Green the three. Those two start at the five and four, respectively, and until Saturday had played those spots almost exclusively.
“I think that was the first time we had that lineup in all year,” Neumann said. “I thought we rebounded really well and we were able to get some matchup problems offensively. It was good to have.”
Osayande, who finished with 10 points and nine rebounds, had four put-backs during that second-half stretch and MSU out-rebounded PSU by 13 in the final 20 minutes.
“I like his progress, I like (Devin Kirby’s) progress,” Fish said. “Sometimes games are better fits than other games, and that was a good fit for Benson and he was very effective.”
Added Neumann, “Benson’s super quick and he’s improved a ton since the start and he’s going to keep improving. He’s got the talent — he’s always had the talent — and it was just a matter of getting comfortable...”
