SF State nabs two this weekend

San Francisco State proved to be six points better than Cal State LA, 71-65, in The City on Saturday. Junior backcourter Calvin (Sheldon High/San Joaquin Delta College) Otiono paced the Gators with 20 points, four assists and a trio of steals.

One night earlier, SF State handled Cal State Dominguez Hills 68-52 behind Decensae (Serra High) White's double double of 20 points and 10 boards.

How are this trifecta of Nor Cal talents doing in leading the San Francisco State team this season?

* Senior forward Decensae (Serra High) White tops the Gators in both scoring (12.8) and rebounding (7.8) thus far.

* Junior guard Calvin (Sheldon High/San Joaquin Delta College) Otiono is second in scoring at 12.3 points per game plus he's grabbing 3.6 caroms an outing.

* Sophomore backcourter Robbie (St. Patrick St. Vincent) Herndon is third with 10.3 points and 3.2 boards each time out.

Gators do it again

Host San Francisco State took down Sonoma State 63-49 powered by Decensae White's 17/12 double-double. It was 42-20 after the initial 20 minutes.

After 55 minutes, it's Dominican

San Francisco State University and Dominican University mixed it up in Marin County yesterday evening with the latter emerging victorious 115-110 after three overtimes.

Connor (Center High) Haysbert produced a 20/12 double-double for Dominican, with Jacob (Elsie Allen High) Noisat close behind at 16/9

For the Gators, Decensae (Serra High) White led with 24 points while Robbie (St. Patrick-St. Vincent) Herndon contributed 21 and Calvin (Sheldon High) Otonio totaled 19.

SF State battled Cal

The final score was 89-80 as host California was challenged much more than expected last night by the upstart San Francisco State.

For the Gators, senior backcourter Nefi (Skyline High) Perdomo tallied 23 points (4-8 from three-point range) with Decensae (Serra High) White adding 19 (7-14 shooting).

Senior Brandon (DLS) Smith totaled 14 points in 24 minutes of play as the starter at the point for Mike Montgomery.

A trio of northern California talents with the Gators

Caught three new Nor Cal-related names on the San Francisco State roster besides that of Decensae White:

 * Dillon Sabia (6-foot-5 junior out of Drake High and College of Marin)

* Jordan Ruedy (6-foot-1 sophomore out of Serra High)

* Steven Sanders (6-foot-6 junior out of Lynbrook High and Cañada  College)
