UCSB falls by a trey

UC Santa Barbara fell by three to Idaho -- 86 to 83 -- last night as part of the CIT, ending the UCSB season. James Nunnally paced the Gauchos with 25 points and Orlando Johnson posted 19.

LB State topples Santa Barbara

Long Beach State took down UC Santa Barbara 77-64 tonight to win the Big West Conference tournament. Orlando Johnson and James Nunnally each scored 17 points for the Gauchos. Coming off the bench, Peter (CaƱada College) Pappageorge scored eight for the 49ers. He scored 11 points in a first-round victory over UC Davis.

UC Santa Barbara 64, Cal Poly 52

The Gauchos will now meet Long Beach State tonight for the Big West Conference tournament championship after getting a hard-fought victory over Cal Poly on a night where both teams shot poorly. Orlando Johnson led UCSB with 20 points and James Nunnally contributed 13.

UC Santa Barbara romps

James Nunnally scored 21 points and Orlando Johnson 20 as UC Santa Barbara routed UC Davis 90-43. Freshman JT Adenrele posted a line of 16 points and seven boards while Eddie Miller contributed 15 points for the Aggies.

Santa Barbara handles Pacific

The Big Two -- Orlando Johnson and James Nunnally -- paced UC Santa Barbara to a 76-61 triumph over Pacific tonight. Johnson produced a 24 point/nine rebound line while Nunnally was at 28 points (six treys) and eight assists.

Long Beach State is just too much this season for the other Big West Conference members and that was proven again tonight as The Beach topped UC Santa Barbara 70-58. Orlando Johnson went for 20 points plus seven boards for the Gauchos and James Nunnally contributed a 13/12 double-double.

UCSB eight better than Riverside

When the final buzzer sounded, it was host UC Santa Barbara 60 to UC Riverside's 52. James Nunnally's 15 points, six boards and three assists aided the Gauchos while Orlando Johnson finished with 12 points and five boards. Kareem Nitoto posted seven points, four caroms and two assists at the point for the Highlanders.

Fullerton topples Santa Barbara

Kwame Vaughn's 35 points (plus six assists) led the Cal State Fullerton Titans to a 99-86 triumph over visiting UC Santa Barbara. D.J. Seeley added 15 points and seven rebounds.

For the Gauchos, Orlando Johnson posted a tremendous line: 28 points, nine boards and seven assists while James Nunnally went for 19/8.

In a matchup that turned out surprisingly lopsided, Long Beach State had no trouble with rival UC Santa Barbara 71-48. Orlando Johnson totaled 10 points for the Gauchos on 4-15 shooting while James Nunnally went 1-7 from the floor, scoring five points.

Orlando Johnson led the Gauchos with 23 points and six boards while James Nunnally contributed 18 and eight.

For the Titans, D.J. Seeley posted a 15/19 double-double and Kwame Vaughn enjoyed 12 points plus five assists.

Even minus Jorge Gutierrez, host California was 20 points better, 70 to 50, last night versus UC Santa Barbara.
