Cabrillo 77, MPC 58

CABRILLO FINISHES PERFECT WITH 77-58 WIN AT MPC

The Cabrillo College Seahawks made Cabrillo College basketball history tonight with an impressive 77-58 win over Monterey Peninsula College in Monterey. Cabrillo (22-3, 12-0) finished Coast Conference South play undefeated for the first time in school history. The Seahawks jumped all over MPC (13-14, 7-5) tonight behind nine three-point baskets. Cabrillo went in at the half up 41-25.

In the second half, MPC came out on fire hitting their first six shots and cut into the lead. The Seahawks came back with a run of their own and pushed the lead to as many as 20 midway thru the second half. The lead was never threatened after that point.

Aaron Short lead all scorers with 20 points. Tyler Velasquez scored 19 and four other scored 8 points (Frank Rogers, Dalton Noble, Joe Saarem and Thomas Pierce).

Next, the Seahawks will take their 14 game winning streak into the NorCal Community College State Tournament. The bracket will be announced Monday (Feb. 20) in the afternoon.
