An Ohlone College update

From a Matt Schwab column:
"When the Ohlone men's basketball team dropped three straight games -- each by a point -- in December, the Renegades buckled down on defense. Then they got hot.

Ohlone (13-9, 6-2 Coast Conference-North) has won seven of nine since that maddening stretch. It beat rival Chabot 69-63 on Friday for its third win in a row.

Ohlone is ranked 14th in the state -- five spots behind Diablo Valley (20-4, 7-3 Big 8) -- and is in second place in the Coast-North behind City College of San Francisco (22-2, 8-0), which is top-ranked in the state.

The Renegades are led by freshmen Chris Read (Castro Valley), Mikhael McKinney (Washington) and international student Lauri Toivonen (Finland).

Ohlone coach John Peterson always knew his young team had promise."It's probably the most coachable team I've had," Peterson said. "It's a lot of fun to be around."
