Former Marin Academy standout Merlin Edwards scored 23 points to help the College of Marin men's basketball team to a 72-59 victory against Gavilan at the Skyline Tournament.
Joey Rodriguez and Josh Hayworth added 16 points apiece for the Mariners (4-3), who face Napa at noon in the tournament on Sunday.
"We played a real good team yesterday," COM coach Dave Granucci said. "We played really hard but came up short. It took a lot out of us. in first half (against Gavilan) we were flat, pressing a little bit. Fatigue kinda got to us as well. In the second half, we dug deep and played well defensively."
