It still seems amazing that anyone in an NFL front office would even draft Ryan Leaf let alone plan to build a team around him considering how much time was available for investigating his background and how much damning information was already present prior to his selection as the second best talent in the 1998 National Football League draft.
But rather than see Leaf as a king-sized *******, it's important to envision him as an individual with an debilitating illness. Granted, that's a whole lot easier to do from afar.
