Catching up with College of the Redwoods hoops

"Men’s basketball takes third at Skyline Tourney

San Bruno – DeAndre Winston had 22 points and Justin Claus 16 as the College of the Redwoods men’s basketball team defeated tournament host Skyline to claim the consolation championship on Sunday.

Redwoods improved to 7-5 overall and will travel to Santa Rosa on Thursday for the Kris Kringle Tournament.

The Corsairs led 44-37 at the half and were able to hold on despite a strong second half from Skyline. Loris Hervey contributed in a big way down the stretch, scoring all 12 of his points in the second half with all of them coming from 3.
Redwoods will play its next home game on Dec. 30 against Canada.

"Ingersoll leads CR men to consolation final

SAN BRUNO – Will Ingersoll had 31 points and the College of the Redwoods men’s basketball team will play for the consolation bracket championship of the Skyline Tournament today after defeating Gavilan 88-66 on Saturday. Ingersoll’s 31 was the most points scored by a CR player this season.

Justin Claus and Loris Hervey each had 11 points and each had three 3-pointers, as well. Rishod Abraham chipped in 10. Every player on the lineup scored for CR.
Redwoods and Gavilan were tied at 44 after the first half but the Corsairs turned it on in the second half, committing just four fouls in the period compared to 10 in the first half. Redwoods also went 15-for-20 from the line.
