Foothill 81, Butte 76 (Foothill tourney)

In a matchup that required 10 more minutes than usual before a winner emerged, Foothill College won 81-76 over Butte College on Saturday.

The ChicoER: "It took a pair of extra periods, but the Butte College men’s basketball team eventually fell to the host Owls in the semifinals of the Foothill College tournament Saturday night.

Butte lost to Foothill 81-76 in double overtime despite a 21-point performance from Terry Clarendon and 16 points from Michael Shoemaker. Trey Foster added 12 in the loss for the Roadrunners (6-3).

Butte fell behind 8-1 to start the game but came back to lead 35-26 at halftime. Foothill resurfaced in the second half, however, using a 15-0 run and a 3-pointer with five seconds left in regulation to send things to overtime.

Shoemaker put back a missed shot at the end of the first overtime to force a second but Butte couldn’t hang on..."
